Quick Question about a SBC DD

Well I just ordered a SBC DD Street Comp 3600 12cb today. My question is, on South Bend's website it says this clutch MAY require a hydraulic upgrade, will I need to add this or can you run this clutch without upgrading the slave?

I ran mine with stock hydraulics for a while...even with 200+K on the clock!

I think most 2nd Gen trucks are fine, but A lot of the 3rd Gens have to change them. Not positive though!

I ran it w/out the upgrade too, had the 3650lb 12-button ceramic & it was ok, other than the pedal being a little "stiff", you should be ok, Dusty

I ordered the same clutch earlier this week. I went ahead and ordered the hydraulics. I went with the knowledge that one of my buddies needed to upgrade after a DD install within a couple months........he has a 3rd gen though. A couple other 2nd gen guys needed them after a while. I figured I may as well do it right the first time so I wouldn't have to deal with it later. My truck has 115k so I figured the hydraulics might be getting tired. Figured it would be $200 well spent.

A little stiff? I was used to backing in freightliners and my reaction the first time I pushed the clutch in was something like this: My leg started getting used to it after a while though.

My hydraulics lasted a few weeks then I'd be sitting at a light with the clutch pressed in and the truck would start to take off by itself. With the help of DTR members I got my hyraulics swapped in just two days (thats breakneck speed for me) but I suspect most could do the swap in an hour

LOL I have been driving big trucks for 30 years and I remember screaming the same way when first getting into my new Penske-leased '02 Freightliner with the button clutch. I use the clutch a lot when delivering with my flatbed Landoll. When I spec'ed my '06 I said "if this thing comes with a button clutch, I'm driving it through your shop doors" My leg is a lot happier now.
