Questions about HTT turbo upgrade

Im looking at the HTT website and im thinking about buying the stage 3 60mm compressor upgrade and the 14cm turbine housing upgrade.

My first question is on the website it says that with the stage 3 60mm upgrade "*This hybrid modification requires internal turbocharger modifications but we can make these modifications for you at our shop for about $85.00.*". What is the modification that needs to be done? Could i do it myself at home or will it have to be sent off? If i have to have someone else do the work i would like it to be close to me so i won't have a lot of downtime.

My next question is will this hybrid turbo work good with my setup (#0 plate full forward, and 370's)? Im staying as cheap as possible so a complete new turbo is out of the question unless its around $500 or less.

Hey Dude I'm in the same boat and I was thinking about doing the same thing but the down time will kill me! I use the truck as a daily driver and can't afford the down time. I was thinking about doing some type of hybrid like the Dodgezilla but also wondered if it required specialty tools for putting it together and reassembly??

if I remember correct the compressor backing plate has to be machined down so the bigger wheel wil fit on, and any decent machine shop should be able to do it for you, just call paul at htt and he can tell you the specifics. one more thing he may suggest is that unless your turbo is fairly new it probably could use new seals and bearings, in wich case it will only be 50 or 100 buck more just to buy one of the complete hybrids.

hope this helps......Josh

By the time you get done paying for the parts plus labor it almost equals the cost of an S300 which is good for more hp. Plus very little downtime to swap turbos and you get to keep your old one.
edit: How did I get turbo confused with converter?

Very true!!!, Shop around and you can find an s300g for $800.00 and a down pipe for another $150.oo, then you got alot better, stronger turbo that can be upgraded later down the road when your ready.
