I recently purchased the XZT+. I took a short trip on the interstate running it in fuel economy mode. I went from 20.4 mpg on summer fuel to 21.3 mpg on winter fuel. I hope to gain a little more when I can run it with summer fuel. With my gears I don't think I can do much better.
With your gears you should do better.

My mileage went up 3 mpg with 40-60 injectors. This may be something you want to look at also. I've read on the sites that you can usually get a gain if you keep them under a 100hp. Also the XZT+ is nice if you want a little extra power at times. Like you I always hand calc and fill up till I see the fuel in the neck. This site has pretty good prices on modules.

I have the Bosch 275 RV 40 HP injectors. They were purchased from PDR Diesel Performance. The web site says they add up to an additional 40HP and are great for towing and mild performance while gaining up to 1.5 mpg improvement in fuel economy. Some people say they add 60hp on a HO engine. Not sure about that. With just the injectors the truck (90000 mi) had a lot more get up and go. At first they seemed to smoke a little under acceleration but that cleared up after a few hundred miles.
