Problem with power numbers
Problem with power numbers
I put my truck on the rollers this saturday and needless to say I was a little disappointed. I put down 260hp and 600tq. This was on a dyno jet. I dynoed in OD per the operators instructions and started the run at about 65mph and shut it off somewhere around 110mph. The temp was 104* and I'm sure the humidity was just as high. My comp is in EZ mode. What could the problem be? Maybe the comp isn't working quite right? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help yall.
Just went out and checked the part numbers off the injector boxes and they say 0 432 193 635 and then there's a -825 real small on the right hand side of those numbers so it reads like 0 432 193 635-825. Is that the right number for the 275 injectors?
Big Blue
Checked my old dyno sheets.
With an EZ, Mach 1.5's (85 hp), I made 269 HP
Added a KSB-1B and went to three runs between 289 hp and 298 hp
These runs were early AM with OAT at 79*. A lot of guys had low numbers on Saturday....over 100* has to make a big difference. I did not here anyone who got their best readings ever!
Hope these numbers help you.

i was suprised that my tubo didn't start building boost till 90 mph, and it was a all but smoke free run. i have never seen a 400 plus run with less smoke unless someone was shooting nos. and my buddies truck, [BBWD] i thought would have been in the 350 range did 304 but o well. i had a blast and enjoyed bsing with everyone.
Hmm. Rjohnson, maybe my numbers weren't to far off then. I'll agree that the conditions were less than ideal but I figured I'd do a little better. Oh well. Hopefully in october I'll have a few more to bring to the table.
Your #s are low, because you are in OD! Never heard of dynoing in OD.
Every dyno I see is always in 1:1 gear(3rd in your case).
OD is .7 the power that there is in 3rd.
I'd say your closer 325 hp and 750 ft lbs

I switched to dynoing in OD...got much better numbers!

Maybe you can't spool all the way up in 3rd, but I don't see why? I redline 5th(1:1) in my truck at 85 MPH. Should be plenty of speed to build power and boost.
Maybe I'm wrong. But I have always seen dyno #s in 1:1 gear
Also, redline in top gear(OD) would be 120 MPH and 135 MPH for BigBlue with 35" tires!
110 MPH for Big Blue is only 2600 RPM!

Why would you care/want to dyno at redline?
Mine dyno graph, in OD, hit max HP at around 2550 rpm and table topped all the way to PM3 reduced fueling at 3200 rpm.
Torque dropped off steadily from 2700 to 3200 rpm.
I agree Big Blue would dyno better with smaller tires.

Depends on the truck. In your case no.
But I would think with a COMP you would make power higher in the RPM range. But could be wrong.
Still, you have less mechanical advantage with lower numerically gears.
Identical trucks, one with 3.55s and one with 4.10s, the 4.10 geared truck should dyno higher. That is why you should dyno higher in 3rd then 4th.
Maybe I will have to dyno my truck to find out what the deal is

I'd say your numbers are low, in May here in Boise I put down 252hp and 640tq (uncorrected) on a dynojet with just a power puck and a Stage 2 intake. Granted the conditions were ideal low 50's and it had just finished raining so there was plenty of moisture in the air. This was with an HO in 6th gear all the way to redline at 125-130 mph.
