Preassure results from Delphi and Holley Blue
Preassure results from Delphi and Holley Blue
I installed a brand new factory style pump(Delphi) 2 weeks ago. At idle I got about 16psi, with the Juice on setting 1(milage) I could pull it down to 6psi, on setting 5 I could pull it down to 1psi.
Today I installed a Holley blue pusher pump on the frame, now I have 29psi at idle, 26 cruising and cann't get below 15psi a WOT with the Juice on 5.
I retained all of the factory lines/fittings and just "spliced" the Holley Blue into the line just behind the T-case. The mounting bolts supplied are self tapping so I just drilled a hole a few sizes smaller than the bolt and tapped them into the frame, no nuts needed. I cut out about 8" of factory line out and used 3/8"s rubber line to hook up the pump. The rubber hose was slipped about 2-3" over the steel factory fuel injection line and secured with two hose clamps(each) facing in opposite directions.
Power was supplied via a fused line directly off the battery(positive and neg) thru a relay which was trigged by a line off of the wire going to the stock pump(I cheated here and used a scotch lock
).
I'm happy with the numbers, we'll see how long it lasts.....

I had a Holley black and got close to 90k miles on it. Then one day, it started acting up, rocketing my fp up close to 30 psi (cruise, wot, and idle) when normally it would stay around 22 psi at idle. Oh ya, 3/8" rubber line from tank to the IP on my rig. Then I got a Holley blue and am around 13 idle and 9 wot. I have not heard of a Holley blue that hasn't been modified that can produce those kinds of numbers. I'm not saying thats a bad thing, but from what I have heard you don't want to have more than 25 psi running to your IP. I don't know of any hardcore evidence that supports that, just from what I've read on this site. Just something to think about.
