Pre comp box purchase Q's

Just wanting to make sure I am BOMBing correctly. I am planning on purchasing a comp box within the next couple of days but want to make sure I am not skipping steps. I don't plan to tap the pump wire yet, I still have warranty time left, don't want to buy the EZ then go back and decide to buy the comp. Had the lift pump tested and it is working perfect. I have gauges, 4" straight pipe, and BHAF; I have thought about getting a j-hook for the turbo but have heard good and bad things about doing that. I have also seen these anti-defueling devices on Haisley Machine http://www.haisleymachine.com/Anti%2...0and%20VBA.htm
they claim an additional 10% horse power with a box but doesn't a comp box have that feature already on it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you all for viewing and your help.

You are correct about the defueling......if you have a Comp you will not benefit from the ADD as the Comp already has the MAP connection that provides the boost fueling capabilities. The best way to mod the wastegate on your CTD is with the J hook since you can't use the boost elbow.

Yeah you should be good to go with getting the COMP. And I would suggest getting the J-hook for the wastegate, without it you will only be able to push somewhere around 20psi and your exhaust temps will raise pretty darn fast. That's what mine did so I turnbuckled my wastegate and now push around 32psi. I can keep in the throttle a lot longer flowing the extra air from the added boost!! OH, and if you are worried about tapping the wire for warranty purposes, you can by the bluechip cover that installs on top of the pump and can be removed very easy when it is time to take it in for some work!!! Not that I would suggest that of course

billygoat02,

You're headed down the right path, especially by getting the Comp now and not buying twice. We always suggest that here at DPPI when folks call on an EZ or a van Aaken box. Get the J hook as you'll want the extra PSI to keep everybody cool and happy!

Might want to start saving for some transmission upgrades.

You'll see some different FP readings with your most cool fuel pressure gauge at WOT as the extra fueling will put a dent in your present pressure...I had to make some fuel flow improvements after I connected the wire on mine
