Power Question on 12v

Hey guys, First of all ill let you know what my setup is!

Ive got a 95 3500 5spd

I'm running a number 8 plate
BD Hx-40 with bd turbo guard
4 inch to 5 inch straight pipe.
SB 13-1.25 Con OFE
And 370's
I was wondering , I know they say a hx 40 can make upto about 400-450 . What would need to do to get it. or atleast what plate is going to push the hx40 and head gaskets limits

Thanks for any help
Lucas

I would think your close to pushing those ponies and limits, but I'm far from an expert.

I have the #8 slid about 1/3 forward and I can hit 36-38 psi anytime I want, and you've got injectors. I think that pushing the stock head gasket limits are about 45 psi, but I want it to live through it. I've heard they're good for 50-55 sometimes.

BTY, Did you notice any change in putting on the Banks Intake (Twin Ram, I assume)? I've heard they make a noticeable change, but I can't see spending the cash for one.

Take it for what it's worth,
Chris

Chris,
i didnt own the truck when it was put on. I know im seeing lots lower egts than most other truck same setup without it, It look good and i really belive it makes a diffrence in the truck, maybe not so much at the low end of bombing, but now that im getting into alot of fuel and air, i feel like it makes a big diffrence. The downside is!!!! I've been through 4 fuel line holders for the back half of the manifold and 2 lines because of it, There just so hard to get tight and keep tight!
Secondly , The gaskets , God forbid they go bad , very agrevating to get a gasket in there that will hold!
I was thinking about pushing my luck with a number 5 and keep it in stock post. Im running my 8 all the way up!
Thanks
Lucas

You'll probaby gain some hp and lower your egts by just sliding the #8 back a little. Full forward isn't the way to go.

What kind of EGT's are you seeing, also What boost are you seeing?

My EGT's are 1200 TOPS, that is at 85+ before it defuels, most I see towing are 1000-1100 if I push it to keep 70+ on the hills at 20K+. SO, I can keep them in check and pull basically anything I want.

I'm getting about 900PreT hard empty run without the 370's
And about 36-40lb empty as well.
I was thinking about going to a free flow boost elbo since the turbo isnt going to hold up above 40 lb.
How far should i slide that plate back?
Thanks
Lucas

Lucas,
Here's my $.02 on what to do next-

3K governor spring kit. You won't believe what a difference it will make, even with your current plate. Much more responsive throttle at all engine speeds.

Consider a #10 plate. When slid forward a little, it becomes almost equal to a #4, but with smoother delivery. Do a search for further discussion on it a while back.

I totally agree with Vin Diesel here, now click the back button and read the thread about T/Q plate for a new beginner, there is some good info there.
