Possible Injector Problems
i need some help here,
first let me tell you how the truck is running, it runs like a perfectly tuned v8, but with one plug wire missing till around 2000 rpms, then seems to smooth out and have great power. this all started last week so i replaced the lift pump, OF valve, heater screen, fuel filter, air filter, and cleaned outerwear.
nothing changed my problem so i went on to check the timming, valve clearance nothing wrong there at all. so at this point i go buy the cummins yard and take one of the mechanics for a ride, first he asked about everything mentioned above, then tells me i must have a bad injector/not poping off properly. well i then headed over to a independent diesel mechanic and took him for a ride, he to asked about the above and stated the same thing as the first mechanic, now heres the kicker, the injectors are only 30 days old and the truck ran awsome for the first 20 or so days, let me here your thoughts about this before i am out some serious $$$$ to have a mechanic tell me i need thousands of dollars in repairs. Thanks Mark

is it ok to tow like this for the weekend? or is there a possibility i could hurt something? i will be pulling my 12,500 trailer thru the mountains and back, 400 miles round trip Mark
There really should be nothing wrong with runing it like it is. Only bad thing about a bad injector is, its defective, and no telling what else could go wrong with it . The worse thing that an injector can do is wash out a cyl. wall. Although we ran our D-max with a bad injector for a little over a thousand miles, couldn't get parts, it had a little stumble right after take off.
well i returned home from my trip early today, the truck had the miss the entire time. so i let it cool for 2 hours and went out and cracked each injector line loose one at a time, none of them were diffrent, the engine loped and missed when each line was cracked. this thing is driving me mad, everything has been checked or replaced with no change. what could be wrong?, is the ip going out on me? any thoughts would be great. i thought the 12valve was mostly mechanical. i have done hours of searches and this is what i came up with so far,
bad injector---new
timming slipped---no
bad plunger/delivery valve
bent pushrod
broken lifter
low compression cylinder
air in fuel
bad of valve---new
bad lift pump---new
fuel fiter---new
heater screen---new
what do you guys think about putting a gallon of PS in the tank on the next fillup?
i read that the PS can help a dv that is sticking and possible get rid of some traped dirt in the fuel system, i use the truck daily pulling a 3000 pound trailer for work, the fuel mileage is the worst its ever been, 13mpg without trailer, 10mpg with trailer and if i hook up my 125000 trailer its around 7.
help me please, Mark
