blown head found the limit

I had my water temps peg wide open and Ive got the tale tale oil in the coolant. Marine gasket, arp studs, 23* timing, and 55 psi boost with 53 psi drive pressure.

I havent had the head off, could a oil cooler cause the overheating and a buch of pressure in the raidator and cause it to blow coolant out?

If it is the head (which im pretty sure it is cuase it has the same symptoms as last time) its getting fire ringed. Im taking an old head I have to my uncle ( hes a talented machinst but has never done a cummins head so im bringing him a junk one to set his mill up with)) and am going to have him cut the reciever groove for the fire rings, I just need to decide what size ring im going to run. Ill get the gasket and ring set from haisley. Ill post pics so everyone can see fire rings. I also need to check the block deck for flatness (how does one go about doing that, sweep it with a dial indicator?)

Get a long straight edge and a set of feelers. I can't remember the specs, but I thought it was around .003" over 12", or .006" over the total head. BUt I could be wrong.

23* isn't what I would consider alot of timing. it runs well for my setup and the rpm range I want my truck to make power in. I have my buddies p pumped 24v set at 33* timing

yeah, once I get my 4k springs installed, I'm probably bumping my timing to 20-21 or so

fire rings and gasket arrived from haisleys today.
I went with a 4.500 diameter and .105 rings
The head will hopefully come off tomorow, then Its got to have the reciever groves cut. It calls for a .120 width and .030 depth. This gives a .090 compressed height giving .015 compression of the wire.
