Please help. 06 common rail head on 01 24 valve

Does anyone know if a 06 common rail cylinder head will fit on a 01 24 valve. The reason i ask is i tried a hog out my stock head and all was going good until 10 hours in to the port job i hit water jacket. I have found a head at a good price and i want to jump on it if it will work. It is hard to find used cylinder heads.

You don't need to replace the head. Devcon steel filler. we use to use it on all our race engines to back fill the intake ports so we could make them bigger. I even used it on my own street engine and put 70000 miles on it before I sold it to a friend who still owns it, Never leaked. Never a problem. They may even make some better products now. I would do some research.

It will fit but you need to get new fuel lines, and have some maching done to the head for either the oil or water jackets I belive.

i was lookin for some high end material to do the exact thing. but all i found could not handle contact with engine coolant. there are some that will repair cast iron and handle high temps but wont handle the coolant.
When i started the porting i kept thinking why cant a guy just shape the port the way you want then build up to fill in the holes.
If this works you just saved me a lot of cash. and my head should flow awsome.
Thanks man.

i was looking at the temperature ratings and the highest they have is 350 f. JB weld goes up to 500 f. The reason this is an issue is its my exhaust port that i burnt through.

PM bigd450. He's out of the Red Deer area and is running a CR head on his 2nd gen. I think he had to open up a coolant passage, and get special connector tubes. Reuses factory fuel lines.
