Common Rail Head on 24 valve ?'s

I am building an 01 Cummins from the ground up and want to run a common rail head. I know they're supposed to flow tons better but when is it to much? If I where to run a CR head, I want to port and polish it and possibly run bigger intake valves. Would this flow too much and kill the bottom end? Would I be better off just having my current 24v head worked?

Bigger intake or exhaust valves? Im not really sure?

Also spoke to a guy at Hamilton, he suggested a 188 220 109.5 Cam shaft.
Twins
200 HP injectors
Possibly Upgraded VP
Supporting MODS

HP Goals are skys the limit (without Nitrous and want to avoid water/meth)

Please excuse my ignorance, I am somewhat new to Hot Rodding diesel trucks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Or maybe someone could point me in the right direction to an individual that would be patient enough to answer all my questions.

Basically its the CR head is the same as a VP. There are a few variations between a CR and VP head. There is a coolant port on the intake side by the map sensor that only on the VP head. The cross tubes are different. The VP cross tubes are thicker on a VP engine than a CR engine and will not fit into a CR head. The intake plenum is slightly different with a VP head having a raised portion right under the grid heater. I plan to run a CR head on my next VP engine build-up main cause they are less prone to common cracking issues that VP are. I plan to machine the VP cross tube down to the diameter that of a CR cross tube. My CR head is off a 06 truck, its already ported/polished, oringed and has the intake plenum removed. When I get to the cross tubes back from the machine shop I was going to post to how to's, to do this mod. VP injectors lines thread into the head. CR cross tubes are head into place with a threaded bushing and then the injector line bolts up to the cross tube bushing. Without pictures its hard to see what I mean.

If you were going to do the work of installing a cam, CR head and all of those goodies, why not just P pump it? A VP-44 can be tempormental as is, and once fueling demands increase that pump will fall on it's face. You could get a P pump cheaper than a HR VP-44 too I would imagine.

Unless your going with a 13mm P7100 power wise the conversion isn't worth the effort. I've owned my 02 VP truck for 11 years now with very little issues engine wise. The most power to date I've made was 677rwhp with the old girl running a stock SO VP pump
