Which Performance Chip Do you Recommend

I have a 2001 Ram CTD extended cab that is pretty much stock except for a BHAF and 4" exhaust. I use it to haul a car to the track from time to time and was thinking it might be a good idea to install a performance chip/programmer to get better gas mileage and a little more power. I don't need a top of the line 6-way programable set-up....just a reasonably priced piece that will help my gas mileage and give the truck a little more grunt when towing. Any recommendations? There seem to be so many options I figured it would be best to ask the people who are actually using them.

Thanks

Edge EZ I would recommend getting gauges before any power add ons. The Edge Juice w/ Attitude gives you the best of both worlds, power and gauges with warnings. You can run the Juice untapped and it will only have the power output of the EZ.

2 choices

EZ or the new QuadzillaXZT.

I would try last one, it's new and easier to program

I tow and use truck just like you, the Edge EZ gave me the right amount of extra power and 2 mpg more, I loved it.
Add RV275 injectors for extra 2mpg and you will be set forever

I do have a boost gauge and fuel pressure gauge....but no EGT gauge.

Where is the best place to buy either the Edge EZ or the QuadzillaXZT?

How about a Fass???

Thats what I would do first.

Power box just helps kill the lift pump, so get a better one first.

For a simple EZ he will be ok on the fuel system. Its the wire tap boxes is where you got to upgrade the fuel system. You can find an EZ fairly easily in the classifieds on this site.

Oh, you would be OK for a while, but the lift pumps go out alot. I lost mine and the VP WITHOUT any mods at all. The Fass HPFP is just alot cheaper than a new VP down the road.

I forgot...I have already upgraded the pump. I added the system from Glacier Diesel. I heard to many bad stories about expensive repairs so i jumped on that shortly after I bought the truck used a couple years ago.

I've ran a stock LP with Geno's larger banjo bolts for 5 years, and now a XZT+ without a problem. Since he's got a fuel pressure gauge, he'll be fine with either the EZ or XZT+, just keep an eye on it if the pressure gets weak. The FASS is better than the stock lift pump for sure, but it's not necessary.

When I got my XZT+, Thoroughbred diesel had the best price.

What is the deal with the Quadzilla Max Mileage module versus the XZT+? Is the max mileage unit non-adjustable for fuel mileage improvement and no increase in power vs. the XZT+ with the 2 settings?
