P7100 Bench test numbers
Finally able to take the pump off and have it bench tested and recalibrated (don't ask why). Modifications are a 3K GSK, #100 fuel plate (slightly forward) and 191 DV's. I run an HTB2 turbo. All pump rpms are half engine speed. I've included rpm, rack travel and fuel output mine and stock. I'd like to know how these compare to others who have had theirs tested and any thoughts on HP/torque. I haven't dynoed it yet. Thanks.
1250 rpm - rack travel 19.5 mm, 430 cc's fuel (stock setting 170 cc's, rack travel 13.5)
460 rpm (idle) - 20 cc's (stock 13.5 cc's)
800 rpm full load - rack travel 19.5, 416 cc's (stock 124 cc's)
1600 rpm (3200 on tach) defueling occurs, rack travel 18 mm
After increasing fueling I advanced the timing to 18 from 16.5. Gains are less smoke at idle, cleaner burn with hard pulls, EGT's don't "peak" quite as easily and boost seems to come up quicker and maintains temps cooler. As stated, any comparisons to others for next step/changes would be appreciated. Also for anyone thinking about pulling their pump off and checking - do it. I learned more in a few hours with the tech than ever.

Thank you for posting the numbers. I bought a pump and am awaiting the test stand results. It is supposed to be slightly less than yours, right around 400 cc hopefully. Where did you get yours done? I have a 913 that is in need of repair. Was told that Dynamite Diesel was good on the west coast, and Scheids was good back east. Several others are supposed to be great for Race only stuff.

I did all the mods myself and used a local Bosch pump shop to recalibrate and run the numbers. I thought is was interesting to know how much it really can put out. I've seen posts talking about some trucks pumping 700+ cc's! Now that's some fuel. Let me know what your numbers are if you get a chance. Any body else have some results to compare?

Not rude. Shop rate was $60/hr. It took about 3.5 hours plus some extra supplies. They also replaced a worn fuel solenoid boot (slightly higher price). All told, you should be in the range of $180 - $250 unless you need more parts ( I did so it was $325). This technician was also meticulous (you know that German engineering). He stripped off parts, cleaned, did pre calibration levels for me, reset, checked spill port timing and fuel output at several rpm settings, recorded all rack travel measurements and then "cooked" the pump (heated it up to make sure it wouldn't bind up on the truck when running at engine temps). I also was able to watch and ask alot of questions (in otherwords slowed him down). I was able to confirm a lot of what I've learned on this site, but it makes more sense there in front of you. I'm sure you could have it done quicker if you just dropped it off, said "turn it up as much as possible and I'll be back". But, hey, where's the fun in that. Any questions you can PM me too.

You are very fortunate to have an injection pump shop that will do the work. Here in California shops say it is illegal for them to tune the pump more than 10 percent above stock. All of the shops I talked to charge 1500 minimum for a performance rebuild. Add 6 to 8 weeks of down time and it gets expensive. Plus they are not always right the first time.

FYI, for anyone in the South Texas/Gulf Coast area in need of an EXCELLENT pump tech, Rick Schmidt over at Fleetpride off of I-37 in Corpus Christi, Tx is the man to see!
Really a good person too! That's where my stuff is going to be taken!

I understand what you're saying about the 10% limits and such. I did check into bigger plungers and barrels and a complete rebuild. There you are talking about $1500 to $2000+. Now you know why Piers gets what they do for a PSP. Mine was only a recalibration not a performance rebuild, so not too bad cost wise. I'm interested to see what my fuel mileage does with a balanced pump and a little more timing. Seems to run with less effort at highway speeds.
