i have a 2002 24 valve qc sb 2500 6 speed cummins and i am thinking about putting a p pump on it. i was just wondering what all you have to do to it to make it work. i heard there was a conversion kit you can buy to do this but i just want to see what all your guys opinions are. thanks alot for all the help. also i have an edge comp on it now and was planning on putting a holley blue pump and stacking a smarty with it. in your opinions what would be the best choice to do: put a p-pump on it or stack it with a smarty. thanks for all the help i appreciate it.

 

I've heard Haisley Machine sells a kit that comes with most of the stuff you'd need. You might E-mail them.

 

Do a search on it you will find a lot of info on it. Did mine 2years ago when there was no kits, I love it.

For reliability and all out performance, you can't beat a p-pump. For ease of de-tunability as in shut the box of and take it easy, it's hard to beat the electronics. You have to decide what you want/ and what you are going to do with it. I myself would p-pump it just so I never had to worry about getting stranded somewhere and having to spend money on a brand new piece of junk

 

Like 24valvepuller said, make sure it is what you want. The p-7100 is very reliable and performes well, and yes it is worth it.

 

Hey 01ppump, hows the driveability with it? Do you use it as a daily driver? I was lookin at that as an option for a yet-to-be-acquired 24valve, but had heard that its finicky and hard to get the tuning right. I also heard that it doesnt make a very good dail driver, but all my vehicles are daily drivers. Thanks

 

I don't know where they poor driveability statements come from. Mine drives better than with the VP. There are quirks as with anything, but there is no way I would go back at this point. I drive mine everyday. I put on 10k km on it in 2 months. Its still not fully finished, but its coming together now. I've got about $4k into mine. You can find a 12v for that money. At that point, you can swap engine for engine, or pull the 12v apart and use the parts on the 24v. You'd need hi pressure lines and misc fittings for fuel and oil lines.
