Ordering a Goerend tranny today...
Just finished my Goerend tranny swap this afternoon. Your old tranny sounds exactly like mine. Infact I stopped driving it it got so bad. One thing I did was replace the tranny cooler and flushed the lines with some "line flush in a can" from NAPA. After seeing the black oil that came out of that tranny I figured for $170 I would replace the cooler to make sure I wouldn't contaminate the new oil. As far as a jack I bought a transmission adapter from NAPA for my floor jack and it worked pretty good. Good luck!

Cooler line part number
Thanks again for all the help and advice. Dave said it should ship today or tomorrow. I already got under the truck and removed all grease, dirt and eye hazards
, removed and reinstalled all skid plate bolts, crossmember bolts, bell housing, and applied neverseize, so there will be no suprises with stuck rusty bolts. I already have the hot line installed for the temp, so that line is new, but am worried about the other line cracking when attempting to remove, does anyone have the part number for the prebent steel tubing return line to transmission? I am also picking up new u-joints, and a rear engine oil seal, (thanks mike), and also need the part number for the output seal where driveshaft goes in, so I can order online today. Thanks again guys, I will be taking step by step pics when doing the job, so everyone can learn with me, and posting here.

Not sure on the P/N for the transfer case output, but figure out which transfer case you have and measure the OD of the seal flange, that will at least give you a good idea how big it is, there's 2 different ones and I had a heck of a time getting the correct one for the one I just did. There is a 2.704" diameter and a 3" diameter one.
The smaller one is easy to get, everybody had one of those, the larger one was a pain. Napa came through for me, no other parts house up by me even had the correct listing for my truck.
