No reverse

Had my tranny done last year by Roy's transmission in Hamden,CT. If has like 12,000 miles on it. He used all DTT parts and a pro torque converter. So sunday my mom took the truck and when I got in it to back out of my driveway It had no reverse. Drive seems to work but it like slips in reverse and doesnt go any where. So I got my tow truck towed it down there and it said on the sign after 36 years they have retired on 6/23/08. Well there goes my warranty. . I'm a mechanic but I dont do auto trannys. Does any one have any Ideas. Fluid is clean and full. It was serviced by the tranny shop 1500 miles ago. TIA,

Paul

There are two possiblities. The reverse band and servo or the front clutch is toasted (most likely).
I'm putting money on the front clutch being toasted. It will still pull in forward gears, its only engaged in 3rd and overdrive.

Why would that happen all of a sudden with no warning no slipping or anything until I got in it. I drove the truck in the morning with no problem. Also took it for a ride all other gears work fine.
