Well, as some of you may have read, ...I had bought a truck on ebay, and it ended up having a cracked "53" block. Thanks to everyone here, for the good info, btw. So I took it back, and Ive kept shoping.

Ive decided on a geen and silver '00 3/4 ton, ext. cab/slt/4x4/auto, and "55" block! . Its super clean, and well maintained. Has 87,000 mi. ...all stock, in every way. No leaks, anywhere. He was asking $17,500(kinda high),... but we agreed on $16,500. The only thing I could find wrong w/ it, is a crack in the dash. He said someting about it has the optional heavy duty transfer case. I havent heard of this yet.

My plans are to order a leveling kit, 5" exhaust......and I need gauges and I want a chip, or whatever, so I think Im going to order the edge juice w/ attitude. Im sure Ill need a tranny rebuild eventually, so I was looking at the suncoast rebuilds.

Does the truck sound like a deal? Any advice from you guys on anything, or am I on the right track?

Sounds about right. I have been trying to sell my 01.5, the "book" values are all over the place. The dealer lots however are not, they are all HIGH. I saw an 02 with 60K for $26,995 I told the guy he was going to have that truck for a while.........!

Never heard of the transfer case. He might just be talking what they put in every diesel, I've never known of anything optional there.

 

From the sounds of it, I think you got a great deal. I am fixing to order the edge juice also. Good luck with the truck.

i believe there are 2 transfer cases...i thought there was a NP241, and an NP241HD

 

I believe all CTD trucks have the NP241HD. Almost positive on that one.

 

Be sure and check FP!!!!!!! I bought mine off Ebay and did not check it and when I finally did, I had none. Luckily, my VP is still alive but for how long I don't know.

 

Thats what the seller said. This one has the NP241HD. It seems like a decent deal. I did have a limit of $15000, cause Im not financing. Just going to pay cash. Thing is, ...after tax, $16.5K turns into $18K, then another thousand on the leveling kit, exhaust, and juice.

Private party, Kelly blue book, on the truck is $16.5k. Nada(dealers guide) is like $18k, I think.

 

No, they don't. It's an option. I have the std duty t-case, even with HO engine, and Trailer Tow prep and Camper Special pkgs.

The HD model has a PTO on it. I believe it was included in the "snowplow prep" pkg.
