New rims??

Good morning all,
I am looking at new rims. I really like the USWheel Daytona 841s. They are a black wheel with chrome centers, and I was wondering if anyone has these or know someone who has them? I have black nerf bars and am going to get a black safari bar, and thought black rims would fit right in. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

Tiny

PS - Living in Ohio, we get salt on roads 4-5 months out of the year, so I am leary of putting high dollar aluminum rims on, or having to keep 2 sets of rims-tires.

I live in the same area and have the same salt problem as you. Both my wife and I run the winter set and then in the spring switch over to something much nicer. I think in this area it is the only way to go. I don't understand why you would spend the money for such an ugly wheel, when you could run stock wheels in winter and purchase something nice for the rest of the time. Each to there own, I guess. There are a few truck around that run wheels like you suggest, but they are all pretty much older trucks or beaters. I don't think the black steel wheels look good on any brand truck. Also I am not sure, but I had a set of wheel several years ago that had the opposite of what you describe. These were chrome outter ring with a black center that had holes in it. They were not expensive and held but pretty good, but I had them mounted on a trailer. Still the chrome will need attention. Good luck.

Im gonna disagree with ynot, I like black rims. I think they make the truck look tuff. truck owners such as myself respect other owners who make their truck look unique. I think it will look good with the all black theme. Ive got a bud who has some rock crawlers and both bumper replacements, making all the accessoroes black on white truck. i think it looks pretty sweet.
Being from central TX, im not too familiar w/ the whole salt/snow thing, so i cant help u there. Good luck.

I couldnt agree more Y-Knot.

I hava white truck, accented in black. I have Line-X on my rocker panels. I like the black rim thing. I might get some one day.

I had the unfortunate opportunity to live in KY last winter. I found out about the salt. Now my FER bumper is reaping the benefits. I tried to keep it washed off. Oh well. i'll have it line-x'd if it gets too bad. The good effects of the salt out wiegh the bad.

good luck.

i just put on a set of black steel street locks. I think it makes a silver truck look more aggressive. I live not far from you, now albout the salt thing!!!!!!!!!! But the only problem is that the back spacing is 4.5 instead of stock 6.25. Mind stick out about 2 inches passed the wheel wells. But I have no rubbing problems at full lock.

cumnhard,
Where did you get your rims from? How much were they, if you don't mind? Maybe we ought to meet a Quaker Steak and Lube some night, talk some diesel.

I spoke with John from Terry's Tire Town, and he called Allied wheel. Their 54 series wheel with simulated bead lock has a capacity of 3000lbs. They retail for about $105 per rim, in case anyone is interested.

I wonder what the stock rims are rated for?

American Racing has some new aluminum wheels with a black Teflon coating - kinda looks like a powdercoat finish.

Not real sure what the load rating's are, but should be plenty sufficent.

Those rims justin posted are actually pretty cool. I am not a big fan of black rims, but those AR's are sweet. I have been searching ebay for the past month, waiting for a nice set to come on.

Still waiting......

I definitely want a set, I just haven't decided if I'm going to jump up to a 17" or 18" now that they're making tires big enough for them. That would look good
