the real reason that a real compression brake isnt offerend is that the head on a 5.9 is not set up for a true compression brake . a true compression brake can be adjusted so it doesnt lock the tires when engaged . this is why you dont see big rigs locking up when they let off the throttle . are new truck we run at work have 500hp cat in them with a 3 stage engine brake and even with it set on the most aggresive setting i cant get the tires to lock . will push you forward in the seat thow .

there is not room under the cowl for a jake brake. if you've ever taken your pushrods out youll know there isn't room for a head that's any taller. thats the reason a jake isn't offered.

I just saw at this website.....
http://www.horsepowerupgrades.com/products.cfm
that they have the stack kits from mbrp....they come in 4",5" and even 6" in flat cut, miter cut and turn out. Lengths of 36" and 48". They offer cat back, or turbo back and you can buy the diamond plate box to cover your piping in the bed. Look pretty sweet, time to start saving money........

Can anyone tell me what a used set of 6" polished stainless, 3' tall, turn out, stacks might be worth? Know where I could price the rest of the exaust from the turbo to the stacks? Thinkin I might just use one of em and have a single stack on the right side of the bed. If the cat converter is removed does the check engine light stay on like on a gasser? I'm guessin it does.

Diesel fuel emissions do not require any catalyst, so there is no catalytic converter - whatcher lookin' at is the soot trap, or oxidizing converter.
Is a honeycomb without the catalyst = traps exhaust byproducts - soot - so excursions at highway speeds heats the honeycomb, incinerates the soot, and voila! - no emitted particulates.
In theory, of course...............
Also, along with that pre-caution posted above - ya gotta remove every even, and odd, spark plug wire to safely remove the thing.
