New lift pump, now no start...HELP!

I replaced the in tank lift pump with a Fass DDRP and a new draw straw. I cannot get the thing to start, I have put some fuel back into the tank, and there is power in the leads going to the lift pump. It will run with a snif of ether, and stay running for about 5-10 seconds, then chugs and stalls. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Don't use ether on diesels, it can really screw rings up, WD-40 is better for diesels. Is the new pump pushing fuel? Do you have any codes? You are either not getting fuel to/thru the IP, or you have air in the lines.

I cracked the line loose after the lift pump and no fuel came out as I cranked it. I checked voltage at the connector, 8.8 volts. When the lift pump is connected, I can't hear or feel it run. Hmmm.....

Double check the polarity on the wires. Re-charge the batteries to make sure they are fully charged. Then, pull the fuel line off of the pump, and have someone 'bump' the starter. If after a couple of seconds, if there is still no fuel, check to make sure the pick-up tube is on the pump and not sitting in the bottom of the tank. Once you have fuel there, open a bleeder valve, before the IP.

I will drop the tank out and make sure everything is good on it. I checked for codes, none to be had. I know I did get some air in the lines, but with this new lift pump, I figured it would pull the fuel and air through the lines...

I do believe that it is designed to push not pull the fuel through the lines. Hope you didn't put the pump on the return line.

The lift pump I put on goes in place of the original lift pump which is mounted on a bracket on the side of the engine block. When Dodge put those "in tank" lift pumps in ,they put an aluminum block in place of the original lift pump. I removed it and put the Fass DDRP in its place, same as stock, and the lines are hooked up just as they were before, and removed the lift pump out of the tank and installed a new draw straw. Now, no fuel. I would imagine that these Fass lift pumps are self priming...

Ok, I did find three restrictions in the feed line, the new 1/2" draw straw was too long and when installed in the tank, it kinked in two spots. I cut it down to the approprate length and re-intalled it back in the tank. The other was the rubber line between the tank and the hard line on the frame. That has been lengthened as to not kink. I am getting a full 12 volts of power to the lift pump, and bumped the starter five times, the lift pump is getting power for twenty seconds, but still no fuel out of it. I can't hear it run, all I get is a very slight thump when I have my hand on it and the twenty seconds up...

Found the problem. I disassembled the actual pump head of the DDRP, the drive gear (inner) is slightly too large and is binding on the outer gear...

What year is the truck?
It's a well known fact that any 24V lift pump should be mounted on the frame rail just forward of the tank.
