new fuel gauge, no start
Hey there, I installed a new 95 gph fass pump yesterday, test drove it and all is well. Did my fuel, pyro, boost gauges last night. Buttoned everything up this afternoon, fuel is a isspro mechanical guage with a isolator. Did the fuel pressure line off a tapped banjo off the bottom of the filter housing, fuel is getting to the isolator. Bumped the starter to prime three times, getting good pressure. Won't start Is it possible the fuel is not getting to the VP44? Can these banjo bolt holes not line up to feed the pump? All parts from piers. Hope to hear from you folks, I don't want to crank too much Thanks in advance!

Slightly loosen the banjo bolt on the side of the Injection pump to see if you're getting fuel that far.
Cycle the lift pump by 'bumping' the starter 3-4 times or until you see fuel.
The design of the Banjo bolt lets fuel get where it needs to go no matter which way the holes line up.
Secure the nut and crank it over for about 30 seconds,
if it doesn't start after you see fuel at the IP, ........
You might need to loosen a couple of injector nuts at the head to purge all the air from the system.

When ever I change my filter, I always fill up the filter housing about 3/4 full with diesel before putting my filter back in and it seems to start with out any problem.

Ok, I'll try that. I syphoned the filter housing to do the banjo, so it's likely lack of fuel or air in the system. I was worried about cranking too much.

Bumped the starter after loosening the Vp44 inlet, fuel was present. Thought I would just crank on it and it fired up in about 6 sec. Thanks for the input, it's nice for rookies to have the DTR. The fass seemed to have cleaned up the exhaust on cold starts. It was a light blue until up to temp but now it's pretty clean.
I didn't wait for a lift pump failure, I just went ahead and did the fass for piece of mind. Installing the RV275's are next. Thanks again!
