I've got one and it has held up to all my abuse. (single disk though). I think you will be pleased, but many others may think otherwise.

I have had my single in since last summer and it has been flawless. I had fantastic customer service from them also. If you want some objective opinions you may have to go to cummins forums, usually anything good said about them gets deleted here. I know there is a few guys running their DD over there.

Its your money. Do your research. But I have been following the boards since 98 and SBC has been there the whole way. In all fairness their prices have come down over the last 2 years and they did away with flywheel core charges etc. etc.

There are stories abound about Valair, sift through them... But the track record of SBC for the last 10 years I have seen, has been above and beyond any other company out there.

Its true, I beat my truck in an Un-Holy fashion, and the SBC DD I got hasn't given me a hiccup ever.

I don't know anything about Valair DD.......I just know what I've got.

Now might actually be a good time to buy one of those cheap junk ones, I heard of a couple people that when they complained about the quality Valair sent them SouthBend Clutches

I talked to Peter the Other day he had just overnighted one for them to a guy that they were trying to keep quiet. At least this is what Peter told me and I have no reason to doubt him.

If that's the case, sounds like Peter is perpetuating.

Funny that Kenny turns out the flywheels on the Valair DD.

I was under the impression that only the G56 units were available from them, news to me that others are out.

I've had personal experience with Valair and SBC, both 13" OFE setups. I like both of them. Both had lighter than stock pedal pressure, were very smooth engagement, and held ~400 RWHP just great. The SBC was alot better during the break-in period. By no means was I pushing these setups, they are rated for plenty more that what the trucks are making. Valair is in my 97, SBC in my buddies 96. I got to drive his truck for 600 miles while he drove my old 95, and basically broke in the clutch for him.

I can't say as to how the Valair will hold up to more, but I've seen a SBC OFE hold up to 535/13XX at the wheels without a problem. Was in a twinned 01 SO 2500 2wd. Peter's reputation definately stands true.

Here we go again You will find mixed reviews on Valair here. There is nothing but great things on other forums about them though. I now a few people running their single disks and not having problems. You have to ask you're self though, is it worth the 600 dollar price cut to go with an unproven dual disk clutch? I am still debating if I'm going to do it. I've talked to them personally and they are great guys, very knowledgeable and willing to help. If Peter can't cut me a good deal on trading my FE in for a dual disk setup, then I will be giving Valair a chance. Just remember, you can't believe everything you hear.
