In the process of installing my ARP head studs. Does the rocker stand/tower have to be machined down to clear the nut on the stud that goes directly down through the rocker assembly?

 

No. The only thing you will need to do is take a dremel tool and grind a little out of the valvecover top to get a good seal on the gasket.

I machined mine down thats what the directions said to do in the new kit. Installed stud height off the block to the top of the stud shouldnt be more then 6.6 inches.
ARP now has a shorter stud for the tower so there is no more valve cover clearance problems.

 

I do have the new shorter studs.

Jet Pilot- it looks like with the new shorter studs, there isn't going to be enough thread purchase in the nuts without machining. How much thread needs to be threaded in the nut? Thanks! -Josh

 

I would be sure that the stud is even with the top on the nut......
