Need recommendation on a SB DD clutch

I'm looking at doing my clutch this winter, and need help picking a south bend dual disc. I'm looking winding up around 500-550hp eventually, and would like to give sledpulling a try next summer. I figure I might wind up pulling maybe 3 times a summer max, but from what I hear, once you try it, it becomes very addictive This is my daily driver though, so I don't wanna go with something that aggressive that I'm gonna hate driving my truck everyday. I do plan on going with the upgraded hydraulics no matter what clutch I get as my stock master cyl. is starting to leak a little bit. Also, I'm assuming these come with a new flywheel? What kind of pilot bearing do they come with? If its not anything descent, I'll probably get one of Quad4x4's bigger ones. Also, what else should I look at replacing while everything is apart (ex...input shaft/bearing, release lever/ pivot, etc.)? I'd like to get everything I need at one shot and do this with minimal downtime. thanks

Yes they come with flywheel Kevlar Bearing installed, pressure plates, clutch discs, alignment tool. You will not need input shaft seeing that the nv5600's allready sport the 1 3/8" input shaft. I run the 3850 12 CB in my DD (When the truck isn't tore apart). I will be abusing my clutch alot this comming year so this is why I opted for the heavier plate load but for your application the 3600 12 CB should be good IMO. Just clean everything good with BrakeKleen I did trying not to get nasty clutch mixed with good clutch.

Yeah, I know I have the bigger input shaft, but I've heard of some guys having problems with the input shaft bearings...that was my only concern with that. Your clutch is the one I was actually looking at, but was worried about it being to "grabby" when pulling out and was also concerned about how much extra pedal pressure there would be. I'd go with the 3600 12CB, but I was worried about that holding up to the abuse when sled pulling, especially since I'll be new to it.

I'm Very Happy with my 3850 and all the 3850's we've installed, Thats about all i order anymore! I've found that for our location there not to grabby at all and not to bad of pedal pressure, But i would recomend if your married or have a better half that will be driving the truck to go smaller! It moves my G/F out of the seat before the clutch disengages!

Ah I see, Like I said I love this clutch I am glad I did not go anything smaller if it was me I would go for the 3850 12CB I dont think it is that bad pedal effort some people say o my gosh this is so heavy, it is going to be harder deal with it. I dont think it is grabby IMO backing a trailer I could see it but daily driving no big deal. Save time and money and go for the 3850 12 CB! I am going to the Iron Giant soon should be a awsome clutch.

P.S. I went for the unsprung version the sprung version I have heard is great.

I just like the unsprung version no reason really just to me it is tried and true and would be more grabbier and clunkier which to me means more tough (Just my uneducated opinion and not necessarily true). I ordered mine when he had the sprung version available. The noise is not bad to me but the 12 valve with a 7" stack hard to tell where the noise is comming from. After a while of the clutch being installed it will grow a tad louder when the floater plate and flywheel wear in and the tight fit loosens up.

Mine is pretty chattery in neutral. Gets kind of annoying, but worth it considering the holding power.

Mine is NOT grabby at all, it is a little different when backing up with a heavy load, but you get used to it pretty quickly (I did).

PJ is it alot to do with the smoothness of engagement since you drive it.

I don't follow?

I only had 6800 miles on my OEM clutch before the swap, so I don't really remember the stock one much.

As far as I can tell, I can shift it just as smoothly as the stocker.....

The pedal catches a little higher, which is odd, but supposedly normal. It's like, when it's engaged, she's locked up (with my modest HP anyway).

Ive had good luck with my 3250 sprung hub DD form SBC. Peter said it has the same pedal pressure as stock. My wife never complains about it when shes pulling our camper, so that must be good.
Mine has held a bunch of power.

Same one I have. I don't know about the "same" pressure though. It seems to get harder further down in the stroke vs. the stocker which is more linear.

Do you have the upgraded hydraulics?
