Need More POWER What do you recommend

well guys I got a 2000 dodge cummins ext cab 3500 dually 5spd... I have some weight on her since I am a welder I got my welding machine and welding bed and of course tools.. I am looking into get her to wake up. I bought it with and edge chip but I don't think its any much of power. it is and old chip and no it does not have any monitor or anything for the chip. it also has straight pipe that's it. i am trying to get a good chip and i was reading on the quadzilla but since it went out of business i was also looking into the edge attitude. what do you recommend me to start with. i am also getting like 12 mpg. i am also looking into getting cold air intake but i drive a lot into off road since i sometimes have to go to the ranches to work. plz help

Probably the most important thing...get a set of gauges- fuel psi, egt, tranny temp, boost. After this upgrade the fuel lift pump, if it has not been done. fill out your signature on here so people see what you currently have.

After this then you can reasonably continue w/upgrades.
1. cold air intake
2. 4" or 5" exhaust
3. edge attitude or quadzilla adrenalilne or smarty
4. QUALITY aftermarket injectors-mach or ddp
5. possibly tranny upgrade if it hasn't roasted by now.
6. add more fuel and another turbo
7. keep adding fuel & air till you think it may catch fire.

I was considering in buying the edge attitude cts which is the color touch screen and it gives all the info as in the gauges so I think I wont need them might be wrong dont know. How much horsepower can I add with the edge without upgrading injectors? Also how much lbs should I be looking on the injectors when I start to purchase them? What brand of cold air intakes are you also using? When I start with this I will also be looking into a turbo upgrade

Lots of questions...in which you need to becareful in approaching the upgrades in the correct order. Install a bunch of power adding mods w/out gauges and you won't know what's happening to the motor or tranny. The mods are going to increase fuel flow, w/out having adequate fuel flow from the lift pump or at min knowing the fuel psi, you'll kill the vp44. Do some reading on here about some of the items I mentioned above and/or what's in my signature. I choose these products/upgrades for how I use my truck. Hope this helps.

Gauges first(fuel psi asap!!) fuel psi, boost and egt's are the top 3. Even in stock form it is very important to add a good lift pump and psi gauge asap! As far as the edge it says it will add up to 120hp. Tho with that much power you will need an upgraded lift pump and clutch to hold the power. As far as cai just get a bhaf and call it a day. They can be had online or at napa for around 60.00(i think) What ever you do stay away from K&N. Some guys like the edge ct/cts for the electronic gauges but other guys dont because if the edge fails you lose all of you gauges where mechanical gauges will always work. 4in turbo back exhaust will help out somewhat. Some guys claim to see a 2mpg increase coming from stock. You can go with a 5in exhaust you wont gain anything other than it will be deeper sound

I don't know of any places in the valley, sorry. SA has Tx diesel injection for all types of diesel repair work and then truck source diesel for aftermarket work. I have not used either but if I had to take my truck in for any repair, it would be TDI. You could do a search for cummins dealers but if all is running well I'd leave it alone, do a bunch of reading on here for upgrades and get gauges and aftermarket lift pump ASAP! Go to the top under "user CP" and complete your signature so people see what you have.

I would run the edge comp box, its cheap and works great. As for fueling mods, you have an intake fuel pump or factory pick-up unit? As for cold box intake, I would pass on it, my stock air box has worked well up to 500rwhp. Just trim the stock air box open. Dusty roads and oiled air filters don't work well together.

Get a dual disk clutch, the newer ones don't make the rattlin noise when they disengauged like the old one. The single disk clutchs just don't grab decent enough to grab on all that cummins power. You have a 4X4 or 4X2? There is a really cool fifth gear fix for the 4X4. Get the upgraded input shaft/bearing for the NV4500.

As for injectors, get anybodies sac 7X10's or 7X12's at 290 bar. Decent power and less smoke/egt's. Not as quite as good at makin power as the smokey six holes.

Which turbo you have? I would wire tie the wastegate closed. I just bought a decent HE351 (59mm inducer) cheap $100. It had a broken pressure sensor on it and the guy thought it was a throw away.

I'm going to build mine into a cheap skate HE351/S476 twins. What you doing for steering and brake mods?

That is about the best route you can safely take. As an example, RockAuto.com has a lift pump replacement that fits in the stock location and uses the stock wire harness connection. I found it to work well and supply good fuel psi....read on her for all the other LP mfg options....Holley,Fass,airdog,etc
