I installed my Van Aaken V5 about 2 weeks ago.
Throttle response is much improved with better
bottom end power. My problem is the boost and
rpm build real quick and then about 2100rpm the
truck just "lays down" and stops pulling real hard.
I never get any smoke either even at low boost. Just
got a boost elbow to intall so boost should go up to 28-30 psi.
Ordered RV275 injectors for next week. Fuel pressure is
13-14 idle ,10-11 cruise , 7-8 WOT. I feel like I need more
fuel. Oh , and fuel filter changed 600 miles ago. When the
truck "lays down" @2100 rpm the engine "rattle" seems to
get worse. Do these Van Aaken advance the timing too much on
the HO engines.

 

That could be a problem. Check and see if you have any codes.

 

I picked the Van Aaken because I thought it
had less advance than the Edge EZ. I hope I didn't
make a mistake I think I maybe should have gone
with the DDTTPM. Anyone with direct experience with the
Van Aaken on the HO engines.

 

No codes , just no smoke or power above 2100rpm.
Does the Van Aaken V5 come in different versions for
the SO and HO engines or are they both the same. I
wonder if I can have the "program" adjusted by the factory
for less advance and more fuel. Any Van Aaken dealers have any
information on there ?

 

I know my roommates truck is an HO and we put the comp on his in EZ mode and it smoked pretty good and would pull all the way to 2700 where it started to defuel. Maybe something is wrong with your box.
