Need help selecting a turbo

I got a buddy that is about to buy a 98 12v 5speed. He is giving me $3,000 to play with it. Probly just gonna shoot for 400-450hp and be a nice street/tow setup. I know how to make the power and hold it but my only question is what to keep it cooled off with thinkin maybe a SP66 or phat shaft maybe a htb2. Just tryin to figure out what all yalls opinions were on it.

The 66 might be a bit to big for those power levels. I'd look at the KSB-1. Mine is keeping my combo at a nice 1250* at WOT. Not to mention that it spools like my stocker.

What is you buddy going to use his truck for? Does he tow, if so how heavy? For the power level you are considering I would look into the SPS62 not the 66. The 66 wheels on the 12v trucks tend to have surge issues especially while towing.

We have set several 12v trucks up with the SPS62 that are right around the HP you are wanting and all of them love their setup! Give us a call if we can answer any questions.
