My truck surges really bad...

At WOT with my Comp on, I get a really bad surge. It feels like the truck isn't getting enough fuel. My FP gauge is showing 16-17psi WOT. I replaced the filters on the FASS and it still does it. If I shut the Comp off, it goes away. The pump wire is tapped with a blue chip tap.
I don't have a injection pump code but I do have a check engine light. I think it is just a tranny code. I have to pull the codes and check but does this sound like a bad Comp box? Its not doing the "all lights lit and flashing" thing or anything or could it be a bad connection at the taped wire?
HELP!

Thats what I was thinking too but someone on TDR told me to try grounding it to the battery instead of the intake horn. Fixed it for him. I'll try it out and report back.

Hahaha, thats not a good idea, couldn't tow my jeep then!
The LA kit is done and has been on my truck for a while. Figured I better test it long term before selling it. It is so far so good, I Love it. Not sure on a price yet but I'll let you know. You know you'd get the hook up dude!

Hey Astar you didn't install any new electronics in your truck lately.I installed Pioneer DVD deck in my truck and it caused some bad surging with the comp on.I had to find a different power source for comp and everything back to normal. Thanks Mark.......

ASTAR, does this feel like a shuddering? Is it worse sometimes than others? If so, I have the same problem that has been getting worse over time. I've got plenty of FP, I'm on VP#3 all with the same problem, new drag comp, moved the ground to the battery, etc. Nothing has fixed it. I am about to go through the grounds on the chassis and under the hood to see if that helps. This shudder is the most noticeable once the T/C has locked up for obvious reasons. I also have a Pioneer screen in my truck that I installed about a year ago but the shudder was present before I put it in. I've finally got some free time to try to look into this so if I find out anything I'll be sure to let you know.

I don't know much about diesels in that sense, but if it is a gasser, it sounds like you have an electrical problem. Try tearing the box off, and running it that way. Get teh box tested, or get a new one.

No but I did have the DVD screen removed when the sunroof went in. Wait, I did have the Sirrius reciever wired in recently. Hmmmm, interesting....

Yeah Adam, please let me know what you learn. It isn;t as much of a shudder as it is just a flat out loss of power. It just feels like the truck is losing fuel.
