I did a few runs on the dyno at the shop the other day and found that my previouse results were still holding.

As best I can, I will describe the graph, 'till my wife can post it(no scanner here).

With my Granatelli box on 2 (100hp) and the Smarty on sw5, graph starts at 1800rpm, 4th gear. By 2300rpm I hit max hp and tq(414hp and 938tq). It then tappers slowly to 290hp at 3300rpm.

Now the crazy: From 3300rpm the hp and tq both start climbing up agian to about 320hp and 500tq at 3500rpm. Then tapper agian, slowly, to about 140hp at 4150rpm. No springs or cam, yet. In stock form the truck will run past 3600rpm, so I don't think it is the Smarty or Gran. doing this.

The truck pulls hard the whole way and seems to want to go further????
I don't really have a question about it, but if someone could tell me what is going on to let this thing run over 4k rpm, I would love to hear it.

Oh, and it sounds very smooth at 4k.

You are going to float a valve if you keep running you're truck at that high of rpm, mine did at 3600 rpms( it did not sound pretty). When I dyno, i lug the engine down in 5th gear at around 1500 rpms, then I dump the throttle all the way up to redline. I'm not sure whats going on with your truck, or if it's the dyno that you're on, but you are playing with fire pushing the engine like that on stock springs, JMHO.

 

Yes, I know all about what I am doing by hitting 4krpms. I'm not talking about some fly-by-night dyno here. This is Floor it Diesel's dyno. And since I work there, I can say I have seen many trucks that wouldn't even run past 3300rpm without falling flat on their face. I only did 1 run up that far, just to see if it would still do it, knowing what could happen. Running the truck in 5th gear gives inaccurate results. 4th gear is 1:1. On a 6 speed it's 5th.
I was just curious if anyone else has had a VP, without a redline, hit 4k rpm.

Do yo have anyome info on that granetailli box, I've read a couple of other threads that said it hit 4K also.

I once said on another site, that I thought it was the Granatelli box, but was RAILED on. Everyone kept saying that the Redline was the ONLY box that goes to 4k rpm. As far as I know, the Granatelli box doesn't claim 4k rpm. The box is sort of weak. On my truck stock, 325hp 838tq. In its' current form I only get 452hp and 985tq. I'm hoping the Adrenaline puts me over 500.
