Muffler Removed

Had the muffler and resonator removed yesterday and a straight pipe installed - WooHoo! Now it sounds like a truck should sound! ;D The shop charged me $25 to cut it out and install 4" pipe - Definitely worth it for those looking to seperate their truck from the crowd w/out a large budget.

Re:Muffler Removed

The ticket question would be dependent on the laws in your area. Around here it's not a problem, the truck isn't nearly as obnoxious as the rice rockets or some gas-burners w/ glass packs. It's definitely noticeable, sounds like a dump truck or tractor - not in a bad way. I've had a couple of guys at lights look at me with a "What the..." as I pulled off. In cab it's a little louder, but not bad at all. Hope this helps - sorry it took so long gettin' back to you

Beware the freeway drone @ ~70 mph. Mine's back to stock fso I wouldn't raise eyebrows registering Fed truck in CA, but I did like the responsiveness of the straight pipe when I got it. 4" coming after a few more neccessary expenditures.

Technically it's illegal (federal law), but never heard of anyone getting cited.

Re:Muffler Removed

Hey Yellowhammer, when ya removed the muffler, did you remove the resonator in front of it too??? Just wondering how far forward ya need to remove stuff, or just go ahead and spring for a 4" system. Thanks

Re:Muffler Removed

Yep, removed the resonator to.
I was stopped last night helping a little old lady that slid her Buick off in a snow bank and the Deputy that responded said, "Hey, what kinda motor you got in that truck?" I told him and he said, "Man, that thing sounds like a real truck!" 8) 8) Yes, I know!

Re:Muffler Removed

I releaved mine of the muffle and cat about 5 days ago. It reduced the EGTs about 150 degrees, which was the reason for doing it. Kinda loud at part throttle, but when airring it out, it gets very loud. Its got me tip toeing around so I dont end up with a ticket. I.ll probably put some kind of muffler on 'em to keep it respectable.
