To much heat

I installed a tst3 and ez on a 2000 auto with 4inch exhaust and a bhaf. The heat is bad can hit 1500 degrees in about 8 seconds or mabey 10. Any suggestions on how to cool it down

Re:To much heat

You need more air. Pdr40/16 or a hybred 35 with a 14cm housing would cool it down at least 200 as well as add about 25 or so hp. You will also cool it a little by adding a scotty 2 and getting rid of the bhaf. You will need to get both if you add injectors. A pm3 moves a lot of fuel and can be tricky to keep cool, you are gonna see high temps if you hold it open long enough wait till summer. Tim

I forgot to put in that he already has 80 hp injectors.

Any idea on how much power this truck is making.

Thats what I'm running, along with EDM's 2.5's..I can hit 1500 briefly in about 4 seconds, then the 35 hybrid starts to catch up & cool it down to 1200 or so..Short bursts at 1500 won't do any damage, but I wouldn't spend more than a few seconds at that temp..12-15 seconds anyway. I find if I stay below level 5, (usually run level 3) I have no EGT issues..Its levels 6-9 that create the heat & HP, so I save that for the occasional drag race or dune climb..But never more than 12-15 seconds..I've seen 1800 for short bursts with another turbo, no damage..So 1500 for short periods won't hurt anything.

Re:To much heat

Yikes! I would assume pre-turbo. If you can hit 1500 POST turbo, there's a good chance you have already grenaded your turbo or melted the engine. Think how hot the turbo would be if it's STILL 1500 degrees after passing through it! Your oil would be coal in no time, even synthetic. Shortly after that, you are turbo shopping.

Re:To much heat

Does he have the smaller hy9. If so he might find someone who has upgraded their hx12 to a bigger turbo and would sell their old one. Its a stop gap measure at best. To control those temps with an auto he will need a bigger turbo.

Re:To much heat

Try an AFE Megacannon and it will help some, not much but some, the only way to really cool it down is to go with a bigger turbo or like was said in the previous post just crank the box down to about 5 or 7.

Re:To much heat

I ran the tst pm 3 an edge ez, and dd 3's with stock charger. The only thing that helped was to go with a bigger down pipe to the stacks, and the best thing was the Scotty II. It worked great.
