More Boost and Anti-Defueling

On my 2001 currenlty I have the Manual boost control it is set at near max but not completly shut off. I have my guages but not currently installed (they will be in the next couple weeks) what type of adjustment do you recommend for my boost control? I have the edge comp stage 5x5 max fuel and timing and i have a anti-defueling device installed. Do i need to go ahead and fully block off wastegate for biggest power? max boost with anti-defueler is this the highest power option and I know i need to monitor my egt but i have about a week before i can have my guage installed. with max boost and anti-defueling will my egt get extremly high and what other cautions should i be aware of?

if you are running stock injectors and don't tow heavy, block it off. if you do have either going on you better get the boost guage hooked up to set the elbow

WELL...the Comp by its self will take care of the defueling.....(Rumor has it that 2001's and 2002's dont defuel as per Marco). You dont want TOO high boost pressures with the HX(Y)-35. There is a certian point that the turbo MAX Efficent boost is met. After that its all hot air and wont do a bit of good. I want to say that 35ish PSI is about the upper limit with the 35? I can hit 32 psi with a boost elbow and Mach II's on my HX-35. No boost fooler! NO defuel.......

I can't crack 1100* on my pyro....with a 7000lbs load going up a hill....at 30psi boost......

At first i though it did. BUT after talking to others with defueling issues....i dont think it does. Im not 100% sure. It will peg 30 PSI with no issues and no signs of backing off. Every once and a while i get a "feeling" but for the most part...it runs strong. RJohnson needs to chime in on this one. He drove my truck for 2 days.....and he is nonbiased! haha....

I have popped an over boost code once (and Marco said that is all it will do is just that...pop a code)...other that that....nothing......

I'm curious about this- can you point me to where Marco said that the '01-'02 don't defuel from overboost? I was reading yesterday that it is actually the timing getting retarded by the ecm after multiple overboost codes while fueling doesn't change.

I put in a hrvp and mach 4's with no boost fooler. When I gave it enough throttle to build serious boost- boost would spike then the truck would fall flat on its face- just like @ 2700 rpms, but 500-700 rpms too early.

I'd hate to take a busy man away from his programming, but any chance you can clear this up Marco

Marco passed that info on to me... in a PM. Here is what he said...

"The newer softwares have never defueled! Only hype. The older ones did that.... 98.5/99/00 softwares do defuel and Smarty cures it, the 01 and up do not have the defueling..."

After driving Deisel Dans truck for two days, and not thinking about the defueling issue, I can say I felt nothing that caused me to doubt Marco's statement. I never pushed it really hard. but did have 3 - 55 gal drums (1,300 lbs) in the back once and "tested" how it pulled at 65 mph in 5th.... hair over 30 psi boost, 1000* Egt, NO defueling and nice power from the Mach 2's.

Never tested my 02... had an EZ or better on it before I added the turnbuckle. But I would think Marco should know!
