Mods and MPG
With diesel approaching $2.50 a gallon. The money that I spent on
my 4" exhaust , Van Aaken, RV275 injectors and BHAF should pay
for themselves in increased MPG in about 12 months. Plus the extra
power doesn't hurt

if diesel was 2.50$ a gallon up here i would fill my truck, every fuelcan, every container and the nieghbors pool for that price,up here its close to 3.50$ a gallon.i to have tried to use the mods as an excuse for better milage to the wife.she doesnt believe me anymore.
Im not to bad at 2.15 a gallon, but the one thing that i still kinda don't understand is, how by increasing our power does our fuel economy go way up, i myself started at about 15.5 and now im up to 18-19 and close to 21-22 on the hwy.

if you can atomize the fuel better with different injectors you get a more combustible mixture and in turn a bigger "bang" within the cylinders, delivering more power to the wheels. advanced timing raises the pressure inside the combustion chambers equating to increased energy, its a thermodynamics topic just trust me on this one. intakes and exhaust let the engine work easier. they are air pumps, if the air enters into the engine easier and expells out of the engine easier it encounters less losses, more use of the available energy.
to quote you, "...how by increasing our power does our fuel economy go way up?..." power increases because the engine is running more efficiently (the measured ouput is higher for the same amount of energy in the fuel) and the mileage increases because the engine is not using as much fuel to create the same amount of power, you do not need to put the acclerator down as far when traveling at 70mph. power is a result of the efficiency and mileage is a result of the power which is a result of the efficiency.
i hope i explained this correctly. someone correct me if i am wrong somewhere.

I'm looking into donig the simple, quick, and cheap mods right now to gain that extra 1 MPG. So far I got most of the easy stuff done. It seems to have more power to the ground. I try to use the cruise control as much as I can... It keeps the foot off the skinny pedal...
