One fix is to route straight out the back.

 

That's what I think I'll end up doing.

Hanging straight down, there is only a bout 1-2 inches clearance from my tires.
With the weights on there, they'd be slapping the tires in the breeze,
probably get pulled into them and folded up, if not ripped off.

If I had the money for an exhaust system, I think dualls out the back like that would be perfect.
Spare doesn't fit under the bed anyway, so no worries about that.

But, alas, I don't.
