Mechanical lift pumps

Screw this electric lift pump crap..... I want to go with a mechanical lift pump which leaves me with 4 options that I know of:
  1. New camshaft with lobe for mechanical pump like the 12V's used.
  2. RASP - not a bad price.... they've really come down, but the kit does not include any of the plumbing.
  3. Mitusa - same principal as the RASP - kit includes plumbing and appears to be a 'complete' kit.
  4. Cobble something together myself.

I'd rather not have to get into the engine if it's not necessary. Seems like it would be way more work to intsall a new camshaft, etc. just to add a mechanical pump. So, that rules out option #1. Option #4 is doable, but by the time I piece something together and account for my time, I probably won't have saved much over options #2 & #3. So, of the those two choices, if they are similarly priced, I would lean towards the Mitusa since the kit is 'complete'.

So, where is the best place (price, availability, etc.) to get the Mitusa pump system?

I wasa set to put a RASP on my truck until I got a call about the camshaft route.

While I know you said it's out for you, I was able to do the swap in less than a day and I get to use all factory parts if something fails.

The only reason I went the route I did is the ability to walk into any diesel supply house and get a 12V pump. They were used on virtually everything.

Since swapping, I have had over 40K trouble free miles after buring 5 stocker pumps up.

Thats one of the nice things about the RASP, Mitusa, Fuel Boss.... they run in parallel with the stock electric pump. If they should fail, the electric lift pump takes over. In theory, this won't leave you stranded until you can get a replacement pump, belt, etc.

Go to www.tnt-dyno.com and talk to them, they are selling the MITUSA kits. I have one on my truck and love it!! It makes 17 psi at idle and makes more as the rpm's increase. The pump isn't too bad to install either
