MAD ECM vs. Comp????
MAD ECM vs. Comp????
Can anyone tell me how these compare performance wise?? I have read the MAD ECM helps with the low-end only. Is running a COMP comparable? better? What about top end performance? Can the two be used together?
I shouldnt comment, cause I dont have either
but, I have read tons about the MAD ecm and I gather that there is no comparison that should be made between the two really. They are apples and oranges. The MAD ecm is WILD CRAZY INSANE (did I mention aggressive) down low. Nothing even comes close according to numerous users. THe response and rate of RPM rise down bottom is drastically improved. But I gather it is not a real total fuel flow monster up top. Most of what I have read is that the MAD ecm and a fueling-only box like the TST PM 3 gives you both worlds. I dont think I would want to use a Comp on a MAD ecm truck, since the MAD is adding a bunch of timing too.
Personally I think.... MAD ECM + TST PM3 Competition version would be

In testing, the MAD ECM added about 66 peak HP to a set of Mach 1.3's. I suspect that is going to be the average gain most will get. The low end of the RPM scale (where the trucks spend most of their time ) is much stronger than anything else using the MAD.
The comps adds up to 120 HP. The higher RPM band is strong, but weaker than the MAD in the mid and low range. The COMP taps the pump wire. The MAD ECM does not.

MAD ECM WILL work with the Edge Comp. They have 2 models...one for TST PM3..with timing, and one for Edge Comps without timing!
I also like the ECM timing with the PM3 better than using the Edge Comp timing.

The CaTCHER gains it's power due to several different settings in the SOFTWARE of the ECM.
Fuel injection, timing and a little secret stuff....
The Comp ( any other "major" box ) does a different thing. The major boxes add a second injection impulse after the ECM has done it's own. Yes with the major box the VP does inject fuel in two different strokes. The "main" one from the ECM, and a second one AFTER the main one. That's why the major boxes have to tap the VP wire.
Two timing's are availabel with the CaTCHER, raised for best performance and MPG. The "Comp special" with less timing advance in order to keep the comp box happy.

It looks like to me the best deal would be a reprogram the ECM, like the MAD, AND a reprogram of the FPCM.
So what I gather is having a MAD ECM w/Comp I will increase my low end and still have the 120 or so hp that the comp adds to the middle and upper range?
Any real world test with these combos
MAD w/TST PM3.....?
MAD w/COMP......?
How would A MAD ECM work with my current OTTOmind computer????
