Mach 4's or 5's??

ok i plan on upgrading my injectors around the first of the year. i tow alot and im going to upgrade my turbo to a htb2. So, do i go with the 150hp 4's or the 200hp 5's? if i wasnt worried about my egts while towing i would get the 5's and maybe even the 6's. so, any ideas??

Common sense towing tells me go with the smaller of the 2.
150hp is still a serious injector.

I wouldn't even consider towing with 5s or 6s.

I only run the 4s because I NEVER tow.

i turn the box on low and this acually lowers my egts. combine this with a larger turbo and mach 4's, and i can get away with towing.

How much do you tow weight wise? alot or a little? I would have to say the mach 5's would be as far as I would go. You would deffinently have to turn the comp down. Like stated above the mach 5 is a serious injector. If want you can just send them to me and I'll let you know what my EGTs are when I'm towing and if there not tooooo high you can leave the Mach 5s with me and you can get the 6's.....

I always cringe when I hear guys "tow by pyro"

Piston temps can go through the roof while towing.

When I towed, I used two pyros. Pre turbo. For backup reasons and to assure I had a good reading.

After a few thousand heat cycles, the cheesy little pyro's can begin to read low. You might think you have 1300, when you have more.

Exceeding the pyro max temps by the manufacturer only speeds up the process and moves the accuracy lower on the scale with time.

Pyros are a wear item, IMO. Change them often and run two if towing. Both pre-turbo. Before the turbine removes the heat energy.

Yes, the probe. The bi-metal just cant take too high a temp and like most other meachanical things, wear out as well with use. Even if kept in a temp range recommened by the manufacturer.

So how many miles should I expect to run before I need to change my Pyro probe?

Unfortunately, the new Autometer setups consist of a harness where the probe permanently affixed.

The only way to change the probe is to unplug the harness at the back of the guage and re-route all the wiring.

Talk about a PITB.

Fortunately, My Isspro setup uses one like this:

Adjustable for depth, and connected by a two eye terminals with nuts & bolts to the extension wiring.
