looking to upgrade
looking to upgrade
i have a 99 dodge ram 2500 24 valve cummins. i was looking to get more outta it. here a lot of ppl talkbout upgrading their turbo wheels and or housings? where do i go for this? is it hard to do? would also like to know if i would be better off just getting nozzles or the whole injectors, i mean honestly whats the difference and the pros and cons of each?
Gauges (At least 3), Upgrade lift pump, 4" Exhaust, Air intake, Programmer, Injectors. In that order. In my opinion you do not need to change the turbo unless you are looking for 400+ hp. Of course after any power upgrade you will need a clutch or tranny. Just my .02 worth
ok i have k&n air intake, removed silencer ring, built and upgraded tranny with modified valve body, 3and1/2 in exhaust, sstraight pipe with 4in tip, fass 150hd series fuel system, new ho vp44. only gauge i have at the momentt is fuel pressure, soon to have trans temp, boost, and pyro. but i am lookin for more than 400hp. lookin for 600 reliable hp due to its my daily driver. thanks for the help
Your on the right track so far. Get the rest of your gauges first. Then get more fuel.
Some injectors or a programmer, then next step would be turbo for more air.
Some 75 or 100 horse sticks with a smarty, then a bd super b single or a 62 65 turbo, combined with what you have so far I really think will put you at a very nice 400 use truck for everything daily driver.

definately appreciate the help. i wanted to make sure i was on the right track. but i still amcurious as to doin something with my turbo. just to inssure its good and not loose or anything, basically rebuild it
If your worried about that, you can get be build kits. First thing to do would be measure the amount of shaft play it has. Take your intake off and spin the wheel by hand. Make sure it moves freely. You should have very little up down side to side play but no in and out play. Somewhere on here there are tolerances to how much play is ok. All this with the truck off of course. If everything is with in tolerances, I'd leave the turbo be till you have more fuel.
