Just got my '99 CTD with auto tranny one week ago. After reading all the post about lift pump problems, I think I better look into at least a fuel pressure guage. What other gauges should I get & how hard would they be to install myself. Kinda like the pillar mounts.

 

I see in your sig that your rig is "stock so far" Do yourself a favor and go ahead and get a pyro and boost gauge if you plan to be adding any fueling enhancements. The boost gauge is pretty simple and straight forward. The pyro does require drilling and tapping your exhaust manifold for pre turbo installation of the thermocouple. Or, you can mount the thermocouple post turbo in the downpipe. This location is "okay" and will get you by, but, expect to see variations in readings as much as 350-400* from what they really are at the inlet of the exhaust housing. If you have the extra money, go ahead and get the tranny temp gauge.

 

Is this a good price &amp; are these the right ones? These are Autometer Ultra-lite guages. Keep in mind I have the little tweeter speekers on the door pillar. They do have a tranny temp gauge that reads from 140-280 degrees if that would be better. I don't tow very much. That sounds look a really good price for the above listed. Just dont forget the boost gauge.

 

The prices look good. BUT I would opt for a 0-30 psi Fuel Pressure guage. I went with a Westach from Geno's. I read 16 psi at Idle. It is not good to continuously peg a guage which could be done with a good lift pump if you only run a 0-15 psi guage. My Pyro and Boost are both Autometer Z series and they matched ggod enough for me to be happy.

 

Ehmmm MarkyMark- did you check the DTR Onlineshop ?<br>On a fast glance i didn't see too much of a difference. <br>If you don't tow too much and plan to bomb I'd go for a boost gauge instead of the tranny temp. if i had to do over again i would have gotten a fuel pres. gauge instead of a tranny temp gauge. that can be added later and odds are your fuel pump will be first to go. my truck never gets above 170 when towing (tranny temp), so i should have gone with the fuel gauge instead. however if you have the money, fuel pres/ tranny temp/ boost/ pyro all at the same time would be nice and not much more in cost.

Ok. I think I have decided on the Autometer Ultra-lites which are white faced. 0-60 boost &amp; 0-1600 pyrometer. But they don't have a fuel pressure guage that goes to 30 psi. They have one that goes to 15 psi &amp; to 100 psi. One doesn't go high enough &amp; one goes to high. The only other white face gauge that goes to 30 psi is the Di-Pricol. Are there any others white face fuel pressure gauges(0-30 psi)?
