Listen to the valve float

I did a burnout saturday night to destroy some tires and make a good video...but after watching the video you can hear a little valve float at the beginning when I was holding 3700rpms, before I let it drop down and then pumped the pedal a bit rather than holding those high rpms.

I just wanted to post the video for folks to see since I'm sure there are guys who have not heard it before. When you hear it breaking up, light popping at high rpm, thats what valve float sounds like.

Were you tagging the throttle on top or was the box cutting out in the middle of the burnout? That also sounded like some floating.

i was pumping it to keep the revs down and blow some smoke for the camera, it was fine at that point. but early on it was popping a good bit.

Sounds good other than the popping. Digging the single stack

So what happened to this plan from last month?

Which springs are you looking at?

Nice burnout though

it was turned down to 42psi...but it lost 50hp on the dyno so that plan went out the window.

the springs will be coming as soon as i have the money. gonna go with F1's because there is not a single other springs out there that even gives data, or any kind of info. guys just say "run X-brand springs, they will hold over 100psi and 5k rpms" but nobody knows anything about them or who makes them. go with whats trusted!

yea yea...i know but this is one of those parts where there isnt an equally good competitor out there for. i cant trust a $7k motor to some half price springs, im already floating the stockers...id hate to spend another $400 for cheap springs and float or break them.

Yeah, I've heard some of the nasty stories about valve stem breakage. It's probably a rare ocurrence still, but too much at risk.

I would give Doug a call at Advanced Diesel Technology 304-864-3399 & he will answer all your questions about the valve springs. He has actually tested them against stockers & knows the spring pressures etc.
