Leveling kit isnt very level?

Well I bought a hell bent steel leveling kit and put it on my truck. I have 33" BFG's and after looking at it on many different surfaces the front sits up about an inch or so too high. Has anyone else had this happen, or was I supposed to leave the rubber spring pad off? Not sure what the problem is... I'll try to get pics tomorrow.

How can I remedy the problem? Add a 1" block? Add a leaf? Airbags? Only thing is I dont want my Pro Comp shocks bottoming out. What's the best way?

i used an add a leaf, lifted the rear about 1 1/2. i would go pull one of your rear shocks off and see how much more you have in them. i would stay away from adding another block, thats a good way to get a good case of axle wrap. the airbags would be cool. you could even keep it level when you put a load on it.

What add-a-leaf's have guys had good luck with? Summit is about 30 minutes from me and they have a few there. Skyjacker and Superlift ones with heights from: 1 - 1.5, 2 - 2.5, and 2.5 - 3. I was thinking 2 to 2.5. Airbags would be nice, but I'd have to wait on those.

The leveling kit is supposed to lift 2 inches- just enough to level the truck which was rear high from the factory because of weight capacity and hauling concerns. (to keep it level with a load on).
Do you have factory rear springs in it? Have you done a lot of heavy hauling? The rears could be sagging from use/age causing the issue.
There is another thread in here about this someone lists a company who makes zero inch blocks for exactly this situation.

The spacers are supposedly 2" from Hell Bent Steel. Altough it seems they are a bit higher or my springs in the rear are old or over worked. I did have 4800lbs in the bed of the truck a few months back before the leveling kit, so that might have done the stock rears in.

How do those zero blocks work? I didnt see any pictures installed. Tuff country makes a 3" wide, 2" lift add a leaf I was thinking of getting. I found out Skyjackers wont work since I have wider springs.

I also installed the HBS 2" spacers in my '02 2500 long box. My truck also sits just a hare nose tall now. I purchased a set of zero rate add a leafs from Offroad Design. They specialize in older fullsize GM trucks, but with a couple adjustments to them, and a couple parts, they should work great!

Basically what it is, is a 1" block, but it actually bolts to the leaf pack. They make them in a 3" wide version, which should work for our trucks. They call it a zero rate add a leaf since it does not affect the spring rate at all, but is esentially a leaf since its bolted to the spring pack. Pretty simple concept, but simple is good in this case. The center bolt hole looks like it will need to be enlarged, and you will have to purchase longer center pins and probably longer u-bolts.

I am thinking this will make the truck a bit tail high again, but I think it will look good that way!

I think I'm just going to get the add-a-leafs from Tuff Country and get 2" in the rear. I'll let you guys know how it works.

Same here. 2" kit and I am a little nose high but Iv'e got 600# of tools and box in the rear all the time, and a canopy. I might do air bags or the add a leaf next to get level.

we finally put in some rough country add a leafs in the rear and man i brought the rear up now it looks like a lifted version of the stock trucks. it has that slight nose down look thought about swapping out the 2" front kit for a 2.5" or maybe a 3" kit looks good but just has that factory "rake" does anyone know how high we can go before we have to get longer driveshafts and has any one done the 3rd gen conversion to get there 4x4 to quit "wondering" the road the tires we run aint that big i think they are 34.5 x10.5 idk not good at the whole metric conversion but thats what they told us at the tire place 34.5" tall also when is a good time, tire size wise, to put on dual steering stabilizers we already need a new ps pump thanks
