It was done on plastic. Some speaker boxes hav it on the front. I lit it up with LEDS. But this picture only shows one I will have more pictures up soon. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

This is exactly how a guy ends up in trouble here just by showing what he does for a living.

A member then posts something like "That's really cool! I'm sure you could make some side money with stuff like that!" and another one like this "I assume you can do more??"

Then before you know it, the poor guy is posting ads in the forum and listing his website and eventually it all gets removed because it violatates site advertising rules.

Sometimes I think you guys intentionally try to get a guy into trouble by goading him into posting stuff you know is wrong.

I agree it looks cool, but Larry is right. And I doubt Cummins would be happy with others making money off their logo, which I am gonna guess is copyrighted.

i think its totally rediculous that the guy cant show off his workmanship without being threatened of being banned for advertising, because other people like the amazing work he does. so what if he does make it...which one of our sponsors is going to be hurt because CTD01 is now taking business away from their laser engraving services?

I don't think that is the point!
Just take it off the Forum....to personal e-mails... and do anything you feel comfortable doing!

I don't think Larry so much minded the guy showing it off, and I doubt Cummins would care that he made it...

The issue lies in the suggestions that someone make and sell them. They seem to pop up every time someone does something cool like that for their truck, people suggest making and selling them.

To start with NOBODY has threatened him with being banned for anything. If you intend to get yourself involved in a situation, you should at least READ the thread first

He is welcome to show what he does here, but he must follow the same forum rules here as everyone else in the process. "DTR reserves the right to advertise on the forums for paid vendors only."

That means he is welcome to show what he does, but he can't discuss selling the product here, or post links to his website because you guys are asking him to do so.

If anyone had questions of that nature, they can easily email or PM him and that way the site rules are not violated.

I sell advertising on this site, that is one of the ways I am able to keep it free for you to use. Simply put I would never think about going into his place of business and taking his laser engraved products with out paying for them and I would expect the same courtesy in return.

As I stated in the thread already, the guys asking him in public to make stuff or sell it here are the ones who are likely to get him in trouble. His original post was just information showing what he did, he made no effort to sell anything or violate any rules, and he was NOT threatened in any manner.

The rules apply to everyone straight across the board, I don't care if you make frilly widgets or the best dang CTD product in the world, you will not advertise it here unless you pay for the right to do so.

If I charged one guy to advertise and then let someone else do it for free, it obviously would not be fair to the fellow who spends his money here to help keep the site afloat.

Larry,

What would it be like if he offered his lazer engraving servies in the classifieds? Would that be okay, I am just wondering as it crossed my mind.

Oh, and when are the next SMARTY shipments expected. I am my self right now, cause I could have sold my other SMARTY for $600 and had that money in hand, instead of that money bieng in Washington now, while parts are on back order..
