J-Hook

This may be a dumb question but i am not sure what a j-hook does and what performance if any does it give you. I have heard alot of people talking about them on here but not sure what it does for you.

a j hook prevents the wastegate from opening which alows you to create mor boost. if your truck has an auto it will have a hy turbo which requires a j hook. since you have a 6spd you need a orphice fitting that screws in your turbo. hope this helps

Otherwise known as the Boost elbow. They usually come with a box that does boost fooling. Your turbo is a HX35 not the HY35 which requires the J hook.

I think the HX puts a bit more air out than the XY, so it is a mild upgrade to go with your 275s on an auto.

a boost elbow is basically a L fitting (some arent always L shaped) with a set screw on the out side of it. when you turn the screw you can either turn up the boost or turn it down depending on ur application.
It looks like the one in my picture (goldish thing with the line going to the waste gate

the stock wastegate is set at 20psi on an HY35. i was thinking about gettin j-hook, but after i put on the drag comp it can push that little HY to 30psi with the wastegate open! i was like "well...guess no need for the j-hook"
