Front Tow Hook Question

I've decided to put on a set of front tow hooks. I went out and bought a couple that are rated at 12k lbs and think that will be enough. Now comes for the installation and the question. Has anyone ever done this? And it so, then where do you install them (frame)? Pics would be great if possible...

You can go to Member Photos and look on page two in Dieseldudes pics and hobbies to see mine. I used one existing hole as I remember and drilled the other one. Make sure you use good grade eight bolts or you may as well put them on with duct tape.

Re:Front Tow Hook Question

Thanks for the info! The factory set looks pretty stout...may just go ahead and get those. Guess there aren't any tow hooks you can use with the factory air dam... Then again, could always cut some holes... Thanks again!

Re:Front Tow Hook Question

A front mounted reciever is chaeper and much more versitile than tow hooks. Works with the air dam in plce.

Re:Front Tow Hook Question

I'll second the vote for the front receiver.

There are two OEM air dams on non-Sport Rams:

P/N 5527 4811 AIR DAM without Tow Hooks
P/N 55077 350AA AIR DAM with Tow Hooks

Be aware that P/N 5527 4811 has the cutout for the hooks as a molded, raised line on the aft surface. I cut the openings with a jig-guided router using the raised line as a location reference. Others have used Dremel type tools.

Re:Front Tow Hook Question

Well, on second thought I think the front tow hitch is the way to go. Any suggestions on where to purchase one? Or, part number etc? Thanks!
