Was reading a couple of sights and stumbled upon this mod. Apparently, you can put a resistor inside the intake air temperature sensor and trick the computer into thinking it's cold outside, that way it will advance the timing and up the power. That's what I heard. Any of you guys/gals try this?
The same can be done on many import cars. I have an older Toyota Celica that I have wired up with a switch. The switch activates a bypass harness that runs the current through a resister. This tricks the computer into thinking that its cold out and the timing is increased along with the fuel mixture.
For my Toyota, its not recommended to run like this for long. But because of the gearing I have installed, turning on the switch is helpful when fast acceleration is needed.
Rich.

I looked into this when I was really after more HP. The guys I talked to said you might gain 5-10 hp doing it and you lost some mpg. In the end I skipped this mod.
I do know some guys have moved there IAT to the intake horn or the air box and got the same results. The advantage of doing this is that its easier to clean and if you run an exhaust break its a good idea to clean the sensor every couple of oil changes.
I believe practical solutions diesel makes a harness to move the IAT.

Big Blue, skip the IAT on the Ford. Put a 10K ohmm resistor on the ICP and be happy.
