interesting guage installation

I am installing some guages on a buddie's truck. He bought the pyrometer, boost, and oil temperature. On the oil temperature guage is where I am having a little trouble. Where do I hook this one up? I don't know why he picked this but I need to have it going by tonight. I was told that there might be a plug on the head for oil. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Best way to do it is to install it in the pan. It's really kind of pointless on a diesel, since they have water to oil oil coolers. Coolant temp and oil temp are usually within 10 degrees of each other.

Are you sure it's not supposed to be for the trans fluid temp? That's worth monitoring.

My money is on the tranny....

Have not heard much about engine oil heat, but their is a tranny oil temp gauge in my truck..

Lastly it is best to install it in the hot tranny line, and you can use compression fittings from napa (better have a little tranny fluid on hand to)..

good luck justmy.002

That is what i thought, he has a manual transmission but I think he was mistaken on what he needed to buy. I think what I'll tell him to do is get a fuel pressure guage instead.
