Injector tip break off???

How common is it? I've read some threads recently that made the cost of Don's F1 injectors seem like he's giving them away...

I feel sorry for anyone who has had this happen to them.

I have only seen it a few times on the old semi trucks that had a CUMMINS in them, it was rare though.

its rare but it does happen. I had an old 8V71 DD blow a tip off and before I could pull over it had burned strait through #2 piston . the old saying still holds true "you get what you payed for" I love my F1s

I agree with them, he should be working on his projects

A mans gotta take a break every now and then. He is a member and allowed to post on subjects of his choosing like any one of us...some of us seem to like to point out that fact I guess??

I guess that Don being a vendor cancels out any experience he may have in the injector business??

Oh no, Don can post whenever he wants. And he certainly does.

I was being sarcastic, and it was an inside joke because of a thread a great while back, which proclaimed that thousands upon thousands of injector tips will be breaking off in the near future, plus amazing stories of hundreds of them broken off already because of the process that everyone except you know who uses on their tips....

Thats all, just a little poke fun.

And for the record, I like Bocelli too. I guess there is at least ONE thing we can agree on Don.

A guy nammed Darren at Daves Diesel in Muncie IN told me that it had happened to him. He thinks it is stuck on top of the piston, He replaced the injectors and still runs fine. He has 170,xxx miles on it, and it runs great. He told me that his injectors were cut huge and it shouldnt happen to Bd's or the like.
