Injector Installation
Injector Installation
Any good articles on injector installation around here? Whats it take to remove and install on a 24V? Any suggestions as to brand preference or size? Should I start with the injectors or the box? This truck is bone stock (except the straight pipe) I would like to add a little more HP, but I can not go wild since I make my living with this truck.
AARON, if you are mechanically inclined at all, you can install your own injectors & box. I just put in a new set of injectors,a new VP44, & EDGE COMP, right by myself. Let me slap myself on the back. I have never watched any of it done before, but these guys on this site give out such good info, that you can't go wrong. I replaced my edge EZ with the COMP. I replaced my 275 injectors with DON'S EDMS. I turned around & installed them in a friend's truck that was stock. I was very well pleased with the EDGE EZ & 275's until I got this big ol' boat. I needed more juice. If you ever get bit by the HORSEPOWER bug, you will just keep going & going. After having the COMP in a couple weeks now, I wish I had it all along. I recommend going ahead & spending the extra few dollars & get the COMP. You can hook it up just like the EZ & NOT PIERCE the pump wire. You will always have an extra 80 hp if you get the bug. ON another note, you may have to upgrade your clutch. I don't know anything about the 5 speed because I have an automatic. Some of these gear-shifters can tell you what you need there.
I think an EZ and 275's is about all the stock clutch likes, as always be thinking of possible VP-44 failure if you tap the wire on the early truck (if it still has original pump of course) Depends on what you want for power I guess?
Thanks for all the replys, I keep going back and forth between the box and injectors. One or the other for now. Money is always an issue and lately it seems to be being pouring from out of my pockets LOL.......
Truck is getting a new gooseneck hitch Monday. The old plate has started to rip at a frame weld
thank god I saw it before something really really bad happened. Also, I am going to get a set of firestone airbags installed in the next week or two. Plus the exhaust manifold is cracked in three places, I really need to get at that problem first. AND!!!!! some dillweed snatched my toolbox right out of the bed. When it rains it pours I guess.
Does anybody know where I can get info. on the actual procedures for removal and installation of the injectors?
Thanks
