I was disappointed too - expected a full replacement pillar not a cover. And just like Palmetto kid, I just started trimming until the two fit like a glove. Ends, sides, drilled large holes to run wires, access the back of the gauges, etc.

Works great, except I need to wrap up the wires because occasionally I can see them through the slight gap at the windshield. No big deal though.
