Wink I Need A Turbo, Any Suggestions???

I need a good turbo to cool my TST PM3 Comp. What is a perfect turbo to cool my set up without running into major turbo lag??? I can get ahold of a set of used(like new) BD Twins for $3000.00(Can) but I would rather run a single for cheaper? What do you guys think???

High Techs 62/12 would make you a great charger.

II SPS 62/14. love it for towing, tooling around town, and the occasional dyno run.

I only tow my Powerwagon on May Long Weekend to hit the mud. I'm looking for a single that will cool well and be similar to the BD Twins. All they sell around here at NADP are the Phat Shaft and the Super Phat Shaft or the Silver Bullet...

HTT 62/12 or 14 is an HTB2.

I have an HTB2 62/12. I can't wait to get home and put it on. Barry at NADP gets an occasional good used turbo on trade. Call him up.

IMO, either the the SPS 62 or the HTT 62 with a smaller housing would be a good choice.

The bigger housing would probably have marginally lower peak EGTs, but higher Average EGTs.

Make sure whatever replacment turbo you get has a big hotside-- like the SPS (not PS) or the HTT "71 series" with the bigger pinwheel.

The hotside on other turbos is too restrictive, imo.

I would go with a Industrial Injection Phat Shaft 62, the HTT 62 would be a good choice as well. You do not too large a turbo will be laggy and egt's up everywhere except WOT. We run the the PS62 with a drag comp and Mach 4's on our everyday truck, works awesome.

See, this is the deal. One guy says to get a Phatshaft and the other says to get the Super Phatshaft. I want to buy a good cooling turbo with a nice spool up because my EGT's get to high with my HX-35(1400 Degrees No Problem)!!! I know this sounds like a "Rant" but I need to buy the proper turbo once!!! I don't want to buy a turbo that only cools a bit more than my stock HX-35 and end up having to try another choice.(The wife says only 1 shot after getting a new motor ) Thanks guys...

You can get a turbo that will be cool, but you are going to have to give up low end performance.
You want exactly the same thing I want- what everyone wnats- to get good cooling without the lag.
That is one of the reasons I went with the HTT. If I don't like it, I can modify it for very reasonably money wise.

the difference between the normal ps and the sps in the super can be sent back to II and for a few hundred dollars, be turned into a sps66. so if your power grows beyond what you plan now, you dont have to buy a completely new turbo, this one can grow with you. that's why i bought mine

Call a reputable vendor and discuss your options. They will be able to help lead you in the right direction..... For some the Super is the ticket for others a standard version will work best. Its all about YOUR setup, 12v, 24v, fueling mods, desires, HP goals, etc. There is no one size fits all turbo. HTT and II both make excellent turbos, there are some differences between the two though.
